So last October, after meeting my now girlfriend, Nina on our first non-date at Southport Grocery & Cafe in Chicago, I decided to drive to Reckless Records to browse some music. As i stepped up to the counter to pay for my CDs, I noticed this stack of Bergamot CDs with a "FREE" sign attached to them along with a list of show dates around town. So I said to myself, "Free? OK!" It also said, "Bring this card to our show & get a free t-shirt!" So again, I said to myself, "Free music AND a free t-shirt?! Uh huh!" So with Bergamot CDs in hand, I jumped into my car and popped The Bergamot into the CD player. This is no exaggeration, I was blown away by this incredible voice and music. I have not heard anything like it, and I could tell that this voice was smiling while singing. And the music, this amazing music accompanying this beautiful voice. I text'd Nina asking her if she wanted to check out this band called The Bergamot who was playing Monday at Martyrs. So we went to the show & saw Jillian & Nate perform on stage and were both floored. After the show, we chatted with them for a bit, and through the months, we have become Berga-friends & Berga-fans! Thank you, Jillian & Nate for being such great people and for filling Chicago with a fresh new sound!
I've seen their free CDs too, but when I got there, it was all gone. Oh well, I've had better luck in our Great Nazca Tours.
