NATHAN HOFF: March 24th 1986

Born on March 24th 1986, in Michigan City, IN. A self-taught musician, Nathan grew up in South Bend, IN. At a very early age Nathan had begun writing songs to perform for audiences throughout Northern Indiana. By high school, his main job was performing and writing music.

In addition to his love of music, Nathan also aspired to become a NCAA Division I golfer. "The winters were spent performing and writing. Summer was when the golf clubs came out!" reflects Hoff. Nathan saw this dream materialize with a NCAA Divsion I golf scholarship to IPFW (Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne) in 2004. "This allowed me to play the game I love, while developing and honing my writing abilities." At IPFW, Nathan studied classical guitar and went on to double major in Accounting and Finance. "Accounting and Finance?! I get that a lot (laughing). But in todays world, being a full time musician means a lot more than learning how to write and perform. I loved studing music, however, I needed to learn how to make a living and secure a viable future in music to do this long term, that is a tall order."

After concluding his studies and leading the Mastadons to a succesful season as the Senior Captain, Hoff now has his sights on great things in music. "I can see how far Jillian and I have come, in just a year, and I am very hopeful about where we are headed. The discipline that we both learned from NCAA Division I athletics has been priceless, it is what drives us towards success." Hoff's musical talents includes singing, playing guitar, piano, bass, drums, and harmonica. He also keeps himself occupied by producing and engineering all of The Bergamot's recordings. "I love to learn, it keeps me busy" he states. "I don't spend time thinking about what I cannot do, rather I look for ways that I can learn how to".

This is the drive and persistence that makes The Bergamot unique. With the uncanning talent and drive of both Jilian Speece and Nathan Hoff, great things are to come. Oh and by the way, they run thier own record label, Both Records, founded in 2010. "I have always been told to aim for the sky and shoot for the stars. In a music industry that is ever changing and extremely competitive, we have done everything in our power to promote and distribute our music without depending and waiting around on other people. It is the key to our success."

With a decorated history and a bright future, Hoff hopes to someday spread The Bergamot's music all over the world. "Music offers hope and connects people in a way that is as unique as the artform itself" states Hoff. "This is surely what I want to do for the rest of my life".
